My front porch in Old Town Eureka is known as The Sunny Side. Southern exposure, protected from the wind, it is an ideal place to sit and play old timey tunes and watch the parade go by.

Happy St. Father's Day

My dad was a great guy and a wonderful father. He provided well for his family, my mom, sister and me. He'd take us camping and on family outings, visiting our relatives in the Bay Area. He would take me on field trips with him around junk yards all around the deserts of Southern California in conjunction with his work as an investigator for the DMV, looking for chop shops and such. When I joined the Cub Scouts and he saw the fun I was having he joined as a troop leader. He and I enjoyed the 50th Boy Scout Jamboree together. I'll never forget that. And when I joined the USNR Sea Cadets he signed on as an ensign. Man, what fun we had messing around on those old Navel Reserve mothball fleet vessels, taking them out on cruises. Some lasting two weeks. I loved my father dearly, and I know he loved me. He was born in Lindsey, Ca. in 1925, attended Watsonville High School, served in the Philippines in WWII as a Sergeant on a tug boat for the ATS, graduated from Hartnell College in Salinas, Ca. and passed away on St. Patrick's Day, 1988, in West Covina, Ca. Here's a photo of the two of us at home in Freedom Ca. in 1952.

Gmail Help Discussion Group Archives Gone

All the archives prior to Sept. 2005 have disappeared. I've been involved in Gmail Help and other Google help groups since Jan. 2005 and have made many friends from all over the world. The Gmail help group was the grand daddy of them all. It's a shame that the early posts are no longer accessible and seems contrary to Google's practice of archiving information. Hey Google, what's up?
