My front porch in Old Town Eureka is known as The Sunny Side. Southern exposure, protected from the wind, it is an ideal place to sit and play old timey tunes and watch the parade go by.

Aloha Aunt Gussie

My aunt Gussie passed away on Thursday, August 28, at the age of 89. My sister and I met in Honolulu to attend her funeral. Born in Hamburg Germany, Augusta was raised in Hawaii and lived most of her life there, Thailand and the Philippines where her husband worked for Black Construction Corporation, building roads and Army bases in Asia. She was a wonderful woman and will be missed by her many friends and family.

Thanks viruswoman. Yeah, she was quite a gal. It's like an end of an era with her passing. She was the second of four children, my mother being the youngest and the only one born in America. They're all gone now, as well as their children except for my sister and I. I got a lot of great pics that I'll scan and post. Hey, this new Google browser, Chrome, works great. http://www.google.com/chrome
