My front porch in Old Town Eureka is known as The Sunny Side. Southern exposure, protected from the wind, it is an ideal place to sit and play old timey tunes and watch the parade go by.

Sophia played her last basketball game of the season today. It was a very exciting game. The opposing team was a real power house, coached to perfection by none other than Paul Gallegos. Their teamwork was superb. Sophia fell down at one point and had to spend a little time on the sidelines making sure her ankle didn't swell but was soon back in the game. The crowd went wild with every score and I'm happy to report that Sophie's team won the game, 12-11.

I was in the stands for quite a few Zane Middle School 7th grade boys basketball games. The highest score was probably around 50. 12-11. Not bad. Good game, Sophie!

Check out the look of fierce determination on her face. Losing was not an option.
