Location: Eureka, California, United States

My front porch in Old Town Eureka is known as The Sunny Side. Southern exposure, protected from the wind, it is an ideal place to sit and play old timey tunes and watch the parade go by.

Doc Ball, 1987, By John Becker

Photo from The People, Places And Events Of Humboldt Count published in 1987. Photo by John Becker. Doc Ball started surfing in 1929 and has taken many photos of the sport through the years. He retired in 1971 from his dental practice, the last 18 years of which was in Garberville. I couldn't quite get all of the page from the book scanned. Doc passed away December 5, 2001.

And here's a photo of me taken by John Becker in about 2004.
