My front porch in Old Town Eureka is known as The Sunny Side. Southern exposure, protected from the wind, it is an ideal place to sit and play old timey tunes and watch the parade go by.

Sophia Playing Her Fiddle

A local pawn shop gave me this 3/4 size fiddle. It looks like one that I sold in 1972 for $50. in order to buy the one I have now for $75. When I was 19 years old a girl named Penelope told me I looked like a fiddler and gave me her student Karl Beck fiddle. It really has a nice sound. So I gave it to my grand daughter Sophia, and she loves it. Posted by Picasa

She's really gettin' at it. Posted by Picasa

Joe Goes To The Polls

Joe takes voting very seriously, as we all should. We're very fortunate to live in a free country where we get to elect our leaders and law makers. One man, one vote. Hey, wait a minute. It looks like Joe voted twice. Posted by Picasa

Yep, I think he did. Posted by Picasa

Relaxing At The Beans

Ian and Paul relax in front of Has Beans during Eureka's Arts Alive! It is so nice to be able to let your guard down and truly relax. When I first moved to this nieghborhood about six years ago, it was very difficult to really relax because of all the tweakers and drunks hanging out. One time, at this very spot in the photo, some guys came up and kicked the table and tried to start a fight with me and my friends, Joe and John. But I can attest that in the last four years that Paul Gallegos has been the DA of Humboldt County, these crimes of assault and robbery have gone down significantly. It's as if the Law has finally arrived in the Old West. We can relax, play our music, and have a good time without fear of being assaulted. I rarely use this blog to endorse a political aim, but I'll make an exception this one time. The following post is from the recent edition of The Eureka Reporter. Posted by Picasa
