My front porch in Old Town Eureka is known as The Sunny Side. Southern exposure, protected from the wind, it is an ideal place to sit and play old timey tunes and watch the parade go by.

The Fear of Creationists

Creationists have a huge emotional investment in the creation story that inhibits their ability to reason. And that investment is based on fear. They believe that if their faith in the validity of the story does not waver they will be rewarded with eternal life, forever reunited with their loved ones in heavenly bliss with an occasional stint in the heavenly choir. If they allow this happy vision to be corrupted by doubt they will be denied entrance to this heavenly wonderland despite all their years of good, solid faith. That is such a heavy burden and one I'm grateful not to bear. It would truly be frightening.

1951 Kohler & Chase Piano

I just had it delivered today. I bought it in February but ended up in the hospital until March with an incarcerated hernia. Kohler & Chase was San Francisco's first music store, in business from 1850 til 1958, and was the town we lived in when I was born in 1951. http://www.sfmuseum.org/hist/kandc.html

Haole

Barack Obama is a haole. Haole means 'foreigner', hence the basis for the wacky conspiracy theories concerning his place of birth.

Newt Says........

"I really believe that we should care about the very poor unlike Governor Romney. Both Governor Romney and Barack Obama seem to believe that a quote – safety net – is all the poor need. I don't believe that. What the poor need is a trampoline so they can spring up to the moon."
